Water under pressure

The World Meteorological Organization reports that two-thirds of the world’s rivers faced abnormal conditions in 2024, marking the sixth consecutive year of global water imbalance.

Last year was the hottest on record, and the impacts were stark:

  1. Severe drought in the Amazon and southern Africa
  2. Deadly floods across Africa, Asia, and Europe
  3. €3bn in insured losses from Europe’s worst flooding since 2013
  4. Global glaciers shrinking by 450 gigatonnes — enough to fill 180 million Olympic pools

The message is clear: climate resilience starts with smarter water stewardship.
