Climate and biodiversity: Twin crises we can’t solve separately

Too often, climate solutions are designed in isolation — solar farms on virgin land, wind farms without safeguards for wildlife, incentives that unintentionally speed up biodiversity loss.

As Hank Paulson warns, climate change policies that overlook biodiversity risk accelerating a dual cycle of destruction. With over half of global GDP directly reliant on nature, ignoring biodiversity is not just an environmental issue — it’s an economic one.

The call to action is clear: every climate initiative must be evaluated through a biodiversity lens. Only then can we avoid trading one crisis for another and ensure sustainable growth for communities, ecosystems, and businesses alike.
